The date for Brighton’s Christmas lights switch-on has been revealed.
Some of the city centre’s festive illuminations were installed overnight in North Laine, with lights appearing in Bond Street, Gardner Street and Kensington Gardens.
Brilliant Brighton, a not-for-profit organisation made up of more than 500 businesses in the city centre, organises the Christmas lights every year and has planned a “festive afternoon… to celebrate that the lights are a gift to the city from our city centre businesses”.
The afternoon will see festive helpers visiting shops and giving out goodies to customers as well as brass band and performers across the city centre.
The afternoon will also see the return of a Christmas window dressing competition, after last year’s contest had more than 1,000 votes cast from visitors and residents.
Voters will have the chance to win an £150 Brilliant Brighton gift card in a prize draw to spend in local businesses.
Brighton’s Christmas lights will be switched on from the evening of November 17, ahead of the festive afternoon on December 2 from 2pm to 6pm.
