Drivers got into trouble in flooded water, triggering more pleas from firefighters to be careful.

Cars got stuck in flood water in Bexhill and Eastbourne yesterday, the drivers having to abandon their vehicles and flee to safety.

Bexhill's Westcourt Drive was closed due to flood water with two cars being stuck.

The Two vehicles were half submerged with the road taped off.

The Argus:  Then Bexhill's Cooden Sea Road was also closed due to flood water with the fire service called.

The Argus: An East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Another report of a car stuck in water - this time at 13.47 on Cooden Sea Road - the driver managed to get to safety."

He added: "It is clear a number of roads are dangerously flooded due to the heavy rainfall. We would ask that you avoid travelling if possible, and do not assume that you will be safe because you are familiar with the roads.

"Please do not drive through flood water - even if you know the roads! We are being called to a number of weather related incidents."

The Met Office warned of flooding and disruption to transport as it announced a yellow weather notice for heavy rain across the south and south west of England for Saturday.

Although Storm Ciaran had largely eased, the warning was issued to last from 5am on Saturday to 11.59pm – stretching from Kent to Cornwall.

There were issues at various location near the Hampden Park area of Eastbourne.
