A much-loved toy shop has reopened with new owners.

Wigwam Toys, in Preston Drove in Fiveways, Brighton, announced it was going to close in May this year.

Now it is back in action and is being run by Katharine Butcher, who worked next door at Sole Sister Podiatry.

The shop reopened on Saturday and has been welcoming customers old and new since.

Katharine said: "Thank you to everyone who came to see us yesterday to say hi and to see what we have done with the shop.

"We had such an amazing first day and we even sold some toys. Here's to many more days like that."

The shop has had a makeover since it was vacated by previous owners Clair Letton and Jesse Marshall, who had run it for a decade.

Its window had been decorated for Christmas with a tree, Santa sacks and festive toys.

The team at Sole Sister Podiatry congratulated Katharine on the news. A spokeswoman said: "Our beautiful Katharine is now the proud owner of Wigwam Toys. She has been a close friend, colleague and now she will be a neighbour.

"We wish her every success. Please support her and shop local."

The shop is open Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm.
