Trains between Brighton and Lewes have been disrupted due to a traffic cone on the line.
A driver reported the obstruction in the Wivelsfield area, with teams having to switch off power to rail lines in order to retrieve the cone safely.
Although the cone has been removed, delays of up to 40 minutes have been reported to some services between Brighton and Lewes and Three Bridges.
Southern Rail has advised customers to delay their journey until the line has reopened.
Tickets can be used at no extra cost on Thameslink, Southern and Gatwick Express services via any reasonable route.
