Two men have been arrested after packages of cocaine washed up along the south coast.

More than 100 packets of the Class A drug with a street value of at least £13 million appeared on beaches across Sussex, with more sightings reported across the coast, in Dorset and Hampshire.

Colourful packages began appearing on beaches in early October, with each brick marked with the word POPI.

The first sightings of the drug packages were reported on October 7 on the Isle of Wight, with more cocaine being washed up in Ferring, Middleton and Felpham, Selsey, Goring, West Wittering and Hove.

Police have confirmed that two men from the Isle of Wight have been arrested in connection to the incidents.

A 78-year-old man from Ventor was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply. He has been released with no further action.

A 57-year-old man from Ryde has also been arrested for being concerned in the supply of drugs after a member of the public found two more packages on October 13 in Chale, in the southern part of the island.

The man has been bailed until January 15.
