A frustrated motorist graffitied a rather rude drawing around a pothole in an attempt to get it fixed.

The pothole in Brighton Road, Lancing, has been highlighted with yellow spray paint around it in the shape of a penis.

West Sussex County Council said reports of graffiti on Brighton Road, Lancing, need to be made to Adur and Worthing Council as the authority responsible for cleaning.

A spokesman for West Sussex County Council said: “This road has monthly driven inspections where any repairs that are needed would be identified in accordance with the county council’s highways inspection manual.

“We have also not received any reports of potholes at this location, reports can be made on our website at https://www.westsussex.gov.uk/roads-and-travel/report-a-pothole-online/.”

The Argus: The graffiti was first spotted last week

It comes after similar vandalism in Downsview Crescent, Uckfield, resulted in potholes being fixed the next day.

The drawing attracted much attention when it appeared on the road in May this year.

Wealden District Council turned up the very same afternoon to try and remove the graffiti using a street cleaning lorry - which only made it worse, according to nearby resident Helen Carr.

Some of the worst potholes were filled by engineers from East Sussex County Council the following morning.
