A railway line was blocked this morning as emergency services dealt with an incident.

Services could not run to Seaford and Bishopstone just after 7am due to concerns for a man's welfare.

Sussex Police apprehended the man and services were back to normal just before 9am.

A Southern spokesman said: “One of our on board supervisors raised the alarm this morning, shortly after 7am, saying he was concerned for the welfare of a man.

“We cut power to the tracks for 15 minutes until Sussex Police apprehended the person.

“We arranged for passengers to use Brighton and Hove Buses while this was going on.

“Anyone whose journey was delayed by 15 minutes or more should claim compensation through our website.”
