A man was tasered in a fracas with police after a pedestrian and parked car were hit by different vehicles.

Police were dealing with the driver and pedestrian who was hit by a car in Leylands Road, Burgess Hill at around 7.45pm on Boxing Day when they were alerted to another incident just around the corner by a member of the public.

They found 52-year-old Simon Hill at the scene in Valebridge Road, Burgess Hill, where a parked car was hit by a vehicle.

Officers had to use a taser against Hill to safely arrest him for a string of offences.

Hill, of Franklands Drive in Haywards Heath has since been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, possession of Class B drugs, attempted criminal damage, and failure to provide a specimen for analysis.

A man was treated for minor injuries at the scene prior to the incident in Leylands Road, and a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of drugs.

He has since been released under investigation.

Simon Hill is due to appear at Crawley Magistrates' Court on January 24.
