The council is planning to rejuvenate the seafront basketball court and is asking for residents' views.
The basketball court on Brighton seafront, near the i360, is one of the most prominent basketball courts on the south coast, the council said.
A spokesman for the council said: “This court has an incredibly high footfall and gives residents and tourists exposure to the game of basketball both by actively participating or as a spectator. Use of the court is free, removing a financial barrier to accessing and participating in the sport.
“The current court surface requires updating and in terms of size would benefit from an increased playing area.”
A fully costed proposal will be made after the consultation.
The plans for the new court could include a complete redesign to make it larger with improved lighting, replaced hoops, backboards and post padding and more.
People are invited to have their say in an online survey before Wednesday, January 31, on ow.ly/W2cl50QsAHB.
