There will be limited train services on Tuesday, January 30 as strike action is planned to go ahead.

The ASLEF union has a planned strike in place which will affect Southern, Gatwick Express and Thameslink services across Sussex.

For Sussex passengers, the only Southern service running will be calling at Gatwick Airport and will be taking passengers between the airport and London Victoria.

This route will only be operating limited services which are expected to be extremely busy.

People travelling on this service should expect possible queuing systems and delays.

Southern Rail said: "If you are planning to travel on one of the last trains of the day, please be aware that, depending on the size of the queue, you may not be able to board a service at all, and no alternative transport options will be provided after the last train departs."

The ASLEF union has also confirmed an overtime nationwide ban, which will impact services from January 29 to February 6.

This means a timetable offering fewer services across the whole network will be in place on these dates, with passengers advised to continue checking their journey routes.

During this period, trains are likely to be packed, particularly during peak hours, and queues may need to be used.

Southern Rail have also said that between January 29 and February 2, and February 5 and 6, the usual non-stop Gatwick Express service will not function.

However, according to Southern Rail, Southern services will provide additional stops at Clapham Junction and East Croydon to assist customers and Gatwick Express ticket holders can use Southern and Thameslink services without extra charges.
