People have been found in a freezer lorry that arrived at Newhaven ferry port this morning.

Sussex Police, border officials, paramedics and the air ambulance are all at the scene.

Witnesses say people were taken from the back of the cross-Channel freezer lorry and are being treated by paramedics.

It was earlier feared some were dead after witnesses reported seeing body bags being taken off the ferry. However, The Argus understands the people are all believed to have been found alive. Emergency services have not officially confirmed this.

The lorry arrived at Newhaven port on a passenger ferry from Dieppe this morning (Friday) and is still being examined on board the ship.
