PEOPLE are invited to enjoy the delights of a toy museum along with cocktails and canapes.

The event next month is organised by food group Bite Sussex.

It is inviting people to “climb aboard for a cocktails and canapes adventure” at Brighton Toy and Model Museum in Trafalgar Street from 7pm on March 7.

Guests will be able to browse the museum’s internationally renowned collection while enjoying three cocktails created by Brighton’s best bartenders, alongside sharing platters of seafood and vegetarian sushi from Moshimo in Bartholomew Square.

The bartenders include Julien Barrett of Gung-ho in Preston Street, which is ranked in the UK’s top 50 cocktail bars in 2023, Matt Clements from Twisted Lanes in Duke Street and Sam Dace of Blossoms in Brighton Square who scooped a clutch of awards at the Brighton Bar Awards last year.

Each bartender will be presenting one bespoke cocktail themed on a toy or model that is on display in the museum.

The spirits have all been sponsored by Arbikie Highland Estate, a sustainable distillery on the east coast of Scotland.

All the ingredients in Arbikie’s range of gins, vodkas and rye whiskys are grown and distilled on the family estate, meaning negligible food miles during the production process. The distillery is powered by solar and wind, with a new hydrogen electrolyser converting waste water into energy coming online this spring.

The event is one of a series of fundraisers that Bite Sussex partners have delivered over the past two years to support the museum’s Trafalgar Street Regeneration Project which will see a new facade to the museum to improve the streetscape beneath Brighton Station for locals and visitors alike.

“The regeneration project isn’t just good for the museum but also for the wider community,” said Jan Etches, general manager of the museum.

“The top of Trafalgar Street is one of the main gateways into North Laine and it hasn’t looked its best for a long time.

“Thanks to exciting events such as this and the support of businesses and customers, we’re well on the way to our £100,000 target to start the build.”

Limited advance tickets are £35. These include three cocktails, sharing platters of Moshimo seafood and vegetarian sushi and entry to the museum.
