There are plans to demolish two single-storey garages and replace them with flats.

The proposal for the site, in Farm Road, Hove, includes a one-bedroom ground-floor flat and a two-bedroom flat on the first floor and roof space.

According to the plans, a single shared entrance would be used to access both flats.

There would also be space for a "modest outdoor courtyard" to the rear of the building.

The plans, submitted to Brighton and Hove City Council last month, say there will be sufficient storage areas in both flats but no additional parking spaces have been planned.

The planning statement argues the flats would make "a small, but valuable contribution to the identified housing need for the city" and "maximises the potential of the site".

The garages are right next to Rog Man Butchers and are currently used for storage purposes.

A consultation period is under way until March 11 and a final decision is set to be made by April 15.
