A "freezing cold" badger cub found with multiple wounds is being cared for by a rescue service.

The young animal was found on February 29 on the Cuckoo trail in Horsham. It was all alone and had wounds on its leg and shoulder.

The East Sussex Wildlife Rescue and Ambulance Service, which is now caring for the cub, believes the wounds could have been caused by a dog.

A spokesman said: "This little one is suffering from multiple wounds around their leg and shoulder, we believe these may have been caused when they were pulled from their sett.

The Argus: The cub had multiple wounds

"How? We don't know for sure but sadly one possibility is it could have been a small dog that fitted into the sett.

"They are stable and doing well so far but they have a lot of healing to do before they are out of the woods."
