Hospital parking payment machines have been targeted by scammers.

Crawley Borough Council said fraudulent QR codes have been placed over parking payment signs at Crawley Hospital in West Green Drive.

Scanning these codes leads to a cloned version of the payment website rather than the authorised one.

This means visitors are paying the scammers rather than for their parking.

The issue has been reported to Sussex Police and victims are urged to report it.

A council spokesman said: "We've received reports of QR codes stuck over car park signage at Crawley Hospital.

"Scanning the code takes you to a cloned Mi Permit website, not the correct website.

"Please visit https://mipermit.com/ to pay for parking. Do not scan the QR code."

Scammers have been targeting parking payment machines across Sussex and the UK.
