Two boys have been arrested after dozens of car windscreens were smashed.

A 12-year-old and a 13-year-old were held in connection with the incident in East Preston, near Rustington, on Thursday night.

At least 12 cars were damaged in the Clarence Drive area.

Cars were also seen with smashed windscreens in Roundstone Drive, including a taxi.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "Police are investigating a series of criminal damage to cars in the East Preston area and are appealing for any witnesses.

"It is reported 12 cars were damaged in the area of Clarence Drive overnight between April 4 and April 5.

"A 12-year-old boy from East Preston and a 13-year-old boy from Rustington have been arrested in connection with the incidents.

"They have been released on conditional bail, pending any further enquiries.

"An investigation is ongoing. Witnesses or anyone with any information or footage is asked to contact police online or call 101 quoting serial 272 of 05/04."

As well as smashed windscreens, some residents reported having their vehicles broken into.

One person told The Argus vans had been targeted in the surrounding area.
