Ex-prisoner to open third gym in Brighton and 'inspire' people

Jason Frost spent three years in prison and was left “homeless” and “destitute” after struggling to find steady employment.

Now, 14 years after getting out of jail, the business owner is on the brink of opening his third gym in as many years and wants to help other people find the success he has.

Jason, 35, said: “I want to inspire people with the journey I have been on. I was very lost in life but I found my feet in personal training.

“I definitely didn’t think it was possible but I’ve surrounded myself with better people.

“It feels like it is mission complete a little bit. My mission now is to help people who are getting into the personal training industry because I never got that opportunity.”

Jason, originally from Cambridgeshire, came out of Norwich Prison aged 21 after serving three years for grievous bodily harm and struggled to find stable employment, leading to him sleeping in his car.

After moving to Dubai for a fresh start he returned to the UK after being headhunted for a job in Sussex but was let go after they found out about his criminal past.

Having completed his fitness qualifications while in prison, Jason set up Brighton Bodycoach which thrived during the pandemic.

After opening his first Fit Box site in Church Road, Hove, in 2021, he is now looking forward to opening his third site in as many years in Upper Gardner Street this month.

Jason now also uses his platform to speak in prisons to try and help people reform.

He added: “There’s no lower place than being locked in a cage. I tell people my story and a lot of people have contacted me when they get out of prison and tell me they want to make the same changes.

“I feel like I owe it to people to do that.”
