A police constable denies assaulting two people, being drunk and disorderly and harassment.
PC Dale Hughes was charged following an alleged incident while off duty in Worthing on Saturday, December 2, last year.
Appearing at Guildford Magistrates’ Court in Surrey on Monday, Hughes denied two counts of assaulting members of the public, being drunk and disorderly and harassment.
The case was adjourned to May 7 for a pre-trial preparation hearing to refer the case to crown court.
The matter was referred to the Independent Office of Police Conduct who directed that a local investigation by the Professional Standards Department should be conducted.
The force will consider misconduct proceedings once the criminal proceedings have concluded.
Hughes is currently suspended from duty.
