The Wight Wizards Isle of Wight racketball team have secured the Hampshire Premier League title, in their first season.

Taking on teams in Ringwood, Southampton, Portsmouth and Chichester, the Wizards not only won the title but did so with an “invincible” season, playing 16 matches and winning them all.

The Wizards are now focusing on upcoming tournaments in Bristol, Bexley and Exeter, along with the National Championships at Edgbaston Priory, Birmingham, in July.

The sport, which is a variation on squash, uses slightly bigger rackets and a bigger bouncier ball, meaning rallies last a lot longer.

Its fans say it is a sport that anyone can play.

If you would like to get involved, message the Wight Wizards via their website, at iowracketball.co.uk.

Alternatively, head to the 1Leisure centre at Westridge in Ryde, grab a club racket and ball and give it a go.

Player/manager Andy Haslin said: "It’s a great achievement to be unbeaten for the entire season.

"It’s never been done before!

"I’m really proud of all of the players who have given their all.

"Every one of them deserves huge credit!"
