A spokesman for the restaurant said: "To say we were all stunned by this result is an understatement. What an honour to be recognised in this way by our peers and friends in local hospitality.

"Thank you for enjoying what we do and a huge congratulations to everyone else named on the incredible top 30 list, and many more who weren’t, such is the array of talent and quality that currently operates to such high standards and against an economic backdrop that has never been more hostile.

"To our incredible team, I realise I should not be surprised. I tell you all the time you’re the best and we’re both so proud to have you do the job you love with us and now so excited to continue pushing how well we do that job.

"Retaining best front of house again is also a huge honour, and to the current dining room team, and those who have been with us in the past year, we salute you, you’re the best.

"This city is alive and well, full of the finest operators, doing things right in our own Brighton and Hove way, and we can’t wait to spend another year getting to see as many of you as possible."

The restaurant also thanked its head chef.

They said: "The kitchen has never been more alive, nor has it been delivering such high quality alongside the levels of comfort and satisfaction our guests have come to expect. Thank you, you may never leave."

Wild Flor was founded in 2019 and refers to itself as a "neighbourhood restaurant".

The owners pride themselves on being a "good old fashioned a la carte" serving snacks, starters, main courses and desserts.

Other restaurants on the top 30 list include The Ginger Pig in Hove and Burnt Orange.
