More than 500 nominations have flooded in for the Worthing Community Awards.
Honours are up for grabs in 14 categories such as Charity of the Year, Outstanding Contribution to Worthing and Good Neighbour of the Year.
One award, the Millie Stoner Award for Courage and Bravery, is in memory of a 17-year-old girl who died from a brain tumour. This will be given to “an individual or group of people who have shown outstanding courage or defiance in the face of perceived danger, fear or difficulty".
The awards have partnered with Chestnut Tree House children's hospice in Angmering in Millie’s memory.
Founder Melanie Peters from Rocket Social Media said: “We wanted to bring something back to Worthing that hasn’t been around for a while, there are so many amazing people that aren’t being recognised.
"Recently I lost a special lady, Millie, who won an award for bravery, and her bravery and courage has inspired me to put these awards together for the community.”
Nominations close on Friday May 10, and the awards will be presented on June 13.
