GREAT Wakering Rovers boss Marcus Bowers has no qualms being underdogs for Saturday's FA Vase final at Wembley.

Wakering take on fellow English Senior League side Romford with more than 3,200 Rovers fans cheering them on.

And Bowers is hoping for one more unexpected victory.

"In eight of the rounds we've had to make the final we've been the underdogs," said Bowers.

"People will probably say we're underdogs on Saturday but that's fine.

"Hopefully we can be the underdog story of the season and it's just so exciting.

"We've sold more than 3,200 tickets which is unbelievable and everyone is just buzzing.

"Nerves are starting to kick in but we're ready and we're raring to go."

Wakering finished sixth in the league table and were beaten in both games against third placed Romford this season.

Rovers lost 3-2 at Burroughs Park before losing 1-0 in the reverse fixture.

But Bowers believes that will count for very little this weekend.

"It helps we know Romford but they know us and on the day anything can happen," said Bowers.

"It's a different pitch, different stadium and competition so it's all to play for."

However, Bowers will be restricted to just a management role having ironically cup-tied himself when managing against Wakering earlier in the season.

"I was manager at Basildon Town and played against Wakering so I'm cup tied," smiled |Bowers.

"It's funny how these things work out but I'm actually injured anyway which softens the blow a little.

"It's just going to be amazing and hopefully we can complete the fairytale story with a win but we need to make sure we play the game, not occasion."

Saturday's match kicks off at 12.15pm.
