A YELLOW weather warning has been issued for Glasgow following high temperatures on Saturday.

Temperatures are expected to soar to at least 23 degrees in the city today, however, the Met Office has issued a warning for thunderstorms from 2pm tomorrow.

The warning is in place until 4am on Monday morning.

The weather agency warns heavy showers and thunderstorms could lead to disruption, especially to travel.

Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and there is a slight chance power cuts could occur.

It comes after a G5 geomagnetic storm, which is considered extreme and the strongest level of solar storm, hit Earth on Thursday.

Northern Lights were visible across the UK on Friday night into Saturday morning as a result.
