A cat founded "matted from head to toe" after living on the streets is now looking for his forever home.

Troy, seven, was kicked out by his previous owners and was living rough before being taken in by the Worthing Cat Welfare Trust.

The charity said he was in an "awful state" but is now recovering.

His matted hair has been shaved on the majority of his body so it can regrow.

A spokesman for Worthing Cat Welfare Trust said: "He was living rough, wasn’t neutered and was matted from head to toe.

"He’s had a ‘lion cut’ and so isn’t looking his most handsome at the moment but he will be back to his full glory in no time.

"He’s a lovely, friendly, big cat who could live with children over the age of ten as the only pet in the home.

"Troy will need some outdoor space and regular grooming."
