Two elderly pedestrians were seriously injured when they were hit by a van near a care home.
A grey Vauxhall Vivaro van was travelling southbound on Copthorne Bank, Copthorne, near Crawley, on a right-hand bend, near to Francis Court Care Home, when the incident occurred about 9.55am on Saturday.
The pedestrians, a 77-year-old local man and a 68-year-old local woman, were both taken to hospital for treatment where they remain in a stable condition.
The driver of the van, an 80-year-old man from Horley in Surrey, was uninjured.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: “An investigation is underway and anyone who saw what happened, or captured the incident on CCTV or dash cam, is asked to email collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk quoting Operation Wicker.
“Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone with CCTV covering Copthorne Bank north of the allotments, or Redehall Road south of Smallfield village.”
