A driver has been arrested after a two-vehicle crash which blocked the A259.

Police and fire crews were called to the scene in Seaford on Sunday afternoon after a car and a van collided near Chyngton Gardens.

Sussex Police said a 41-year-old man from Seaford was arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving.

A spokesman for the force said: "We responded to a report of a collision involving two vehicles on the A259 near Chyngton Gardens, Seaford, at about 3pm on Sunday, June 9.

"A 41-year-old man from Seaford was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink and drugs. He remains in custody at this time.

"Witnesses or anyone with information about the collision can report it to Sussex Police online, quoting serial 720 of 09/06."

The A259 was closed for around an hour while the car and van were removed and investigation works continued.

The road has since reopened.
