- Delivering the fastest upload speed and second fastest download speeds amongst the major national providers.
- Zen wins Customer Service Brand of the Year at annual Which? awards.
According to the latest data from Think Broadband as analysed by ISP Review, broadband provider Zen Internet is delivering the UK’s fastest nationally available fixed line upload speeds and second fastest download speeds. As Zen continues to expand its full fibre footprint nationwide, more and more residents of Brighton and Hove can access the faster, more reliable service delivered over fibre optic cables.
Zen has been named the UK’s only Which? recommended provider for broadband for four consecutive years, regularly topping the consumer champion’s annual table of broadband providers. The provider scored an impressive 70 per cent in this year’s survey, earning four stars in the ‘connection speed’ category. According to the ISP Review analysis, Zen’s average upload speeds have reached 106.2Mbps, 45 per cent more than the next nearer provider.
What’s more, Zen recently won the Which? customer service brand of the year in their annual awards. Commenting on the achievement, Annabel Hoult, Which? Chief Executive, said: "Customers love the service and support offered by Zen Internet - our only Which? Recommended Provider for broadband. It was the only broadband provider to earn five stars for its communication in our latest league table, and it’s consistently received impressive scores for both technical support and its customer service through the years.
"Congratulations to Zen Internet on its win. The Which? Awards judging standards are incredibly high, so to be named as a winner is a huge achievement - something only achieved by the best of the best."
What can you do with gigabit speeds?
Full fibre broadband is a different type of connection than the UK has traditionally deployed. The old-fashioned copper wires that delivered traditional broadband were great for carrying phone calls but can cause problems when used for data transfer. Full fibre swaps these old-fashioned copper wires for a faster, more modern, and reliable connection delivered via fibre optic cables.
Speeds are available to thousands of homes across Brighton and Hove from 100 Mbps up to 900 Mbps. With Zen’s Full Fibre 900 product a HD movie can be downloaded in 36 seconds or a 1 GB file can be uploaded in nine seconds. For avid gamers, the Full Fibre 100 product is capable of downloading a 50GB game in 67 minutes. Upgrade to Full Fibre 900 and this download time reduces to an impressive eight minutes!
According to David Barber, Strategy Director at Zen Internet, "There are a lot of factors at play that will impact internet speeds, most crucially how a provider manages its network capacity. Our award- winning service is underpinned by our commitment to investing in our network for better performance, improved resilience, and a network that operates without limits or restrictions. With a fibre first approach we aim to deliver the best customer experience via the best technology available."
Barber added, "We are increasingly reliant on the internet in our daily lives. The volume of data and information being shared just keeps on rising – on Zen’s network it is growing at a CAGR of 35 per cent. That is why we are really excited to be bringing this lightning-fast broadband service to homes in Brighton and Hove giving the area access to next generation connectivity".
Ofcom’s Code of Practice on Speeds
Zen is signed up to telecoms regulator Ofcom’s voluntary Code of Practice on Speeds, giving customers greater insight into the speeds they can expect from each service, including peak time speeds, as well as a minimum guaranteed download speed at point of sale. This means that Zen’s customers can easily understand the minimum speeds available on the broadband package they’ve signed up for.
Zen is also signed up to Ofcom’s end of contract notifications to inform customers when contracts are about to end and what they could save by taking out a new contract. The internet service provider was also amongst the first to rollout the regulator’s auto compensation scheme whereby broadband and landline customers can get money back from their provider when things go wrong, without having to ask for it.
