Police have launched an investigation after a man attempted to steal from a shop till before racially abusing a member of the public.
Adur and Worthing Police said the incident happened at a convenience store in Strand Parade, Worthing, at around 10.30am on August 11.
The man was spotted first trying to steal from the shop till before he was confronted.

He then racially abused a member of the public before leaving the scene empty-handed.
Police are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "We are appealing for witnesses to a racially aggravated incident in Worthing on Sunday, 11 August.
"A report was received of a man attempting to steal from a till at a convenience store in Strand Parade at around 10.30am.
"He was confronted and racially abused a member of the public, before leaving the scene.
"If you witnessed the incident, or have any information that could help, please contact police online or via 101, quoting serial 500 of 11/08."
