Dramatic footage shows the scale of a fire which left a home gutted despite firefighters' best efforts to save it.
Fire investigators believe a charging lithium battery from a segway is to blame for the inferno which caused smoke to billow into the sky over Eastbourne last night.
One woman was treated by paramedics while dozens of firefighters worked to extinguish the huge flames engulfing the home in Woburn Way.
Emergency services were called shortly before 10pm and sent six fire engines and a ladder truck to the scene.
A spokesman for East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said all people in the house were accounted for.
Nearby residents were told to keep their windows closed and avoid the area to avoid breathing in harmful smoke fumes.
The fire service added: "One property has been seriously affected by the fire.
"Officers at the scene have informed that the likely cause of the fire was due to a lithium battery from a segway charger."
A video taken by a neighbour at the rear of the building shows flames both on the ground and on the first floor of the house.
