A man has been taken to hospital with a head injury after police were called to a flat in a historic square.
Emergency services swarmed Regency Square in Brighton after being called following concerns for the welfare of a man just after midday.
Parts of the road were closed off after fire crews used an aerial ladder to rescue the man from the top floor of a Regency-era building in the seafront square.
No further update on his condition has been given.
A spokesman for the force said: "Police were called to a flat in Regency Square, Brighton, about 12.01pm on Monday 16 September following concerns for the welfare of a man.
"He has been taken to hospital with a head injury, where he remains.

Onlookers watched as fire crews using an aerial ladder were called to the incident by Brighton seafront just before midday.
An air ambulance was also called to the scene and landed on Hove Lawns before taking off just after 1.30pm.
