A new branch of a major optical retail chain will be coming to a seaside town.

Specsavers will be opening a second branch in Broad Street in Seaford.

The second store, which will be two doors down from the first one, will be primarily focused on hearing care as opposed to eyewear.

Specsavers will be taking over the empty unit which used to be Huckleberry Hair, a hairstylist and beauty boutique, which had been in the town for more than ten years.

Seaford Town council was consulted on the matter and decided to support the proposed new store.

Specsavers first submitted a planning application to Lewes District Council to put up their signs on October 22.

The planning application was then recommended for approval by a case officer on December 4.

The recommendation gives Specsavers five years to have the signage in place unless further consent to display has been given by the local planning authority.

There is currently no indication of when the new store will be open.

Specsavers have been contacted for comment.
