A music shop considered to be a Brighton institution is currently closed.

Gak music emporium in North Road is closed today (March 25), with shutters drawn over the distinctive yellow shopfront.

A sign in the window says it is "closed due to maintenance" and apologises for the inconvenience.

The shop, recognisable for its bright yellow façade, celebrated 30 years in the city in 2022.

Gak stands for guitar, amp and keyboard.

It is unclear when the shop may reopen.

The shop has been approached for more information.
