A major retailer has said it has no plans to leave after its city centre store was listed for let.

The space at 45 East Street in Brighton, currently occupied by clothing retailer Cos, was recently listed as available to rent by Eightfold Property.

The listing stated that the property "will be available from September 2025" for a cost of £185,000 a year.

This sparked concerns that the upscale clothing retailer would be closing its Brighton store after more than 10 years in the city.

However, a spokesperson for Cos said the listing should not have been made as they intend to stay and "this has been flagged with the landlord".

They added there are "no plans to close the Cos store in Brighton".

As part of the H&M Group, the Cos brand retails contemporary minimalist clothing for women and men.

It launched its first store in London in 2007.

The Brighton location on East Street has been occupied by Cos for over a decade, after replacing the previous tenant, Laura Ashley.
