A new survey has named Gatwick as one of the best airports in the country.
The study by The Telegraph Travel ranked thirty of the UK’s busiest airports and assigned them a score based on their performance in a variety of areas.
These included factors such as the number of destinations served, distance to city centre by road, on time percentage and cancellation percentage, and drop off charge at the main terminal building.
The findings placed Gatwick as the sixth best, scoring 842 points – just below Newcastle who scored 867.
The study awarded the airport 137 points for their wide choice of holiday destinations. Gatwick offers 205 destinations in 69 countries - one of the largest offerings in the country, with only London Heathrow hosting more.

It also praised the airport's selection of bars and restaurants, as well as scoring highly for its offering of unlimited free Wi-Fi and the number of high reviews of its airport lounge.
However, according to The Telegraph’s findings, the Sussex airport was let down by its ability to cope with high demand.
Scored against data by the Civil Aviation Authority, the study found that only 59.8 per cent of Gatwick’s flights were on time last year, the worst statistic of any airport in the Telegraph survey.
Other airports featured in the list's top ten include Jersey, Birmingham, and London Heathrow.
Liverpool John Lennon took the top sport, scoring 888 points and ranking highly on factors such as its high percentage of flights being on time, brisk security and airport queues, and low cancellation rates.
