A company has announced that buses will be withdrawn from service, after one of their fleet was gutted by a fire last week.
The road, close to the County Mall shopping centre, was closed as crews battled to get the fire under control.
The bus, which was gutted by the blaze, was one of Metrobus’ zero emission buses, powered by hydrogen.
Metrobus has announced they will be withdrawing similar zero emission buses following the incident.
"There will be some disruption from Monday, December 8 due to buses being withdrawn from service to investigate a battery over heating last week," a statement read.
"School services are being prioritised. Some routes will use buses that look different, but you can travel on them as usual. We apologise for the inconvenience as we source replacement vehicles and investigate the issue."
In a statement last week, Ed Wills, managing director of Metrobus, confirmed that all passengers had been safely evacuated and that no one had been injured.
He said: “We have had no such previous incidents with hydrogen buses, and have launched a full investigation into the cause of the fire alongside our partners at Wrightbus."
