Eastbourne has welcomed its first Green County Councillor.
Former Liberal Democrat councillor Brett Wright, who represents the Meads division, has joined the Green Party.
This marks the sixth Green seat on East Sussex County Council.
His decision comes shortly after the relaunch of the Eastbourne Green Party, which has seen a surge in membership.
Cllr Wright said: "It’s been a sad decision for me personally to leave the Lib Dems. At the end of the day, though, I need to belong in political party which better aligns with my values and enables me to put the residents of Meads first.
"As a Green councillor, I now have support from a party that shares my faith that, together, we can make transformative differences to local people's lives."

The change brings the total number of Green councillors on ESCC to six.
Rachel Millward, deputy leader of the Green Party, said: "Cllr Brett Wright shares our belief that – by coming together – we can build a fairer, greener country."
Cllr Johnny Denis, leader of the Greens at ESCC, praised Cllr Wright’s record.
He said: "The Green Group has long recognised Brett as a talented and insightful councillor, and we’re thrilled to have him join us."
The Meads councillor originally won his seat as a Liberal Democrat in 2023.
Elections to East Sussex County Council have been postponed until at least May 2027.
