A beach in East Sussex has been named as the best in the UK to visit this spring.
Cuckmere Haven earned first place in a national ranking released by GO Outdoors, scoring 9.60 out of 10 in the company’s “spring beach” survey.
The rankings were based on a combination of visitor reviews and weather conditions, including sunshine hours, rainfall, and temperature.
Between March and May it averages 7.8 hours of sunshine a day and about 52mm of rain a month.
Cuckmere Haven is a pebble beach at the mouth of the Cuckmere River and forms part of the Cuckmere Nature Reserve, with walking routes through Seven Sisters Country Park.
Visitors rated the beach highly, giving it a Google review score of 4.8 out of 5.
It is not recommended for swimming due to the strong tides. But popular features include views of the Seven Sisters cliffs, walks along the Cuckmere River, and the iconic coastguard cottages.
Camber Sands, also in East Sussex, came in ninth place on the list
Southwold Beach in Suffolk took second place with a score of 8.68 out of 10. It had the highest average spring sunshine in the top 10, making it a strong pick for sun seekers.
Druridge Bay Beach in Northumberland claimed third place with a score of 8.53.
It tied for the highest Google review rating in the top 10, earning a score of 4.9 out of 5 from visitors.
The seven-mile beach is largely unspoilt, and visitors can watch birds and spot roe deer and red squirrels in nearby woods.

GO Outdoors started with a longlist of 50 UK beaches.
It used March-to-May weather data from en.climate-data.org to draw up the rankings.
Each beach was scored on four equally weighted factors: average temperature, rainfall, daily sunshine hours, and Google review score.
