Seven Sisters cliffs named among the UK's most beautiful places

The Seven Sisters cliffs were named number 44 on the list by Big 7 Travel.

It said that the "stunning white chalk cliffs, topped with green grasses, are a welcome sight for any sailor arriving in East Sussex, and have been for millennia".

It noted that the dedicated hiking paths across the top of the cliffs provide "stunning views over the English Channel".

Visitors to the area can also admire the cliffs from afar from nearby beaches and villages instead.

The Seven Sisters run between the mouth of the River Cuckmere near Seaford and the chalk headland of Beachy Head outside Eastbourne.

Some of the cliffs and adjacent countryside make up the Seven Sisters Country Park, which is also part of the larger South Downs National Park.

The cliffs have become an iconic staple in the region and have even featured in films.

They are seen in the background of the Quidditch World Cup in the 2005 film Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and also when Slartibartfast is showing Arthur Dent the "new" Earth in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Much of the 2015 feature film Mr. Holmes was also filmed around the Seven Sisters.
