An early-morning 5km event is set to return to the city.

The Brighton 5.30 will begin at 5.30am on Friday, July 10, starting from New Road.

Jo Osborne, event organiser, said: "The Brighton 5.30 is more than just a run; it’s a magical way to experience our beautiful city waking up, all while supporting an incredibly important cause.

"Seeing 500 people – along with their children and dogs – taking over the traffic-free Lanes at dawn is truly a sight to behold.

"We are thrilled to bring the community together once again to support Rockinghorse."

Billed as "Brighton's best-kept secret," the event has been running since 2017 and welcomes up to 500 walkers and runners.

The route winds through the historic Lanes, along the seafront, and finishes through Pavilion Gardens.

There are no start or finish lines, no emphasis on time, and every participant receives a signature 5.30 t-shirt as their entry ticket.

Participants also receive a commemorative medal and fresh cherries from a Kent farm.

More information can be found at run530.com/portfolio/brighton.

Entry is open to all ages and abilities.

Each entry includes a £1 donation to Rockinghorse Children’s Charity.

The charity provides vital support to sick children and babies in the local area.
