Police are looking for witnesses following a “traumatising” dog attack on a bus.

Coral Dulieu had just got on the 5B bus at North Street, in Brighton, on March 13, when she said her dog Rara was attacked by two other dogs.

The incident was reported to Sussex Police, who are now calling for witnesses to the attack.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “On Friday, 13 March between 4 and 4.30pm, it was reported that a woman and her dog boarded a 5a bus in North Street, Brighton.

“As they passed another passenger's two dogs on board, one of them was reported to have attacked her dog. Sadly, the dog has since been put to sleep.

“The breed of the dog involved is currently not known, however it is described as being a large Staffordshire Bull Terrier type dog.

“Police are asking anyone who witnessed what happened, or who may have relevant footage to make a report. You can do this online, or via 101 quoting reference 1427 of 13/03.”

Nick Hill, commercial director for Brighton and Hove Buses, also shared his condolences to Ms Dulieu.

He said: "We take incidents of this nature extremely seriously and are very sorry to hear this.

"We offer the customer our sincere condolences.

"The safety and wellbeing of everyone travelling on our services, including pets, remains a priority."
