West Sussex County Council is to sell a former Chichester infant school.
St Joseph’s, in Orchard Gardens, was declared surplus to requirements in 2024 after the school moved to the neighbouring junior school site in 2023.
It was advertised online for offers in the region of £1.5million.
A number of offers were received and, on Friday (March 20), Jeremy Hunt, cabinet member for finance & property, approved the sale of the site to an unnamed bidder.
A report from Andrew Edwards, service director for property & assets, said: “An options appraisal has been undertaken and the site has been considered against a range of options including for possible social, community or environmental use, particularly where this could complement the council’s ambitions relating to climate change.
“No viable options have been identified in this case. All alternative education uses were considered. No alternative county council service use has been identified for the property and the property is surplus to all operational service requirements.”
