Community spirit was in full bloom as a town came together to celebrate the return of a much-loved event.

On Sunday, June 7, Haywards Heath Town Council welcomed crowds to its annual Spring Into Summer celebration on Muster Green.

The free event drew thousands of visitors for a packed afternoon of entertainment, activities and community stalls suitable for all ages as residents and visitors gathered to mark the start of the summer season.

The council has invited visitors to share their feedback at haywardsheath.gov.uk/spring-summer.

Councillor Duncan Pascoe, Mayor of Haywards Heath, officially opened the event and reflected on the day.

He said: "It was wonderful to see so many residents, families and visitors enjoying Spring Into Summer and making the most of everything the event had to offer.

"It was a fantastic celebration of community spirit and a wonderful showcase of the talent and enthusiasm that exists within Haywards Heath."

Stalls were a key attraction throughout the day, featuring handmade crafts, gifts, artisan products and information about local initiatives.

The space gave businesses, charities and community organisations a valuable platform to connect with residents, raise awareness, recruit members and engage with potential new customers.

A varied entertainment programme in the arena kept audiences captivated.

Lucy Songi opened the afternoon with a piano and vocal performance, while young dancers from Baby Ballet charmed crowds with their routines.

Fuego Gymnastics followed with a high-energy display of strength and agility, and a Tai Chi session led by Grove Garden encouraged participation from all ages.

The event closed with laughter and applause for Marco the Magician, whose interactive magic show was a hit with children and families.

Fairground rides, circus skills workshops and a crazy golf course kept visitors entertained across the site, with plenty of opportunities for hands-on fun.

Long queues formed for face painting and balloon modelling provided by Tick Boom, whose team transformed children into colourful characters.

Donations were collected throughout the day for the Mayor's Charity, Kangaroos Mid Sussex, which supports children and adults with learning disabilities.

Haywards Heath Town Council thanked everyone who attended and contributed to the event, including sponsors Belvoir and South East Water.
