An art auction has raised more than £35,000 for two charities.

The charity sale, held at Firle Place in East Sussex and organised by Gorringe’s, took place on June 3 and featured original art and exclusive experiences, with bidding both online and in the room.

Funds raised will support Team Domenica, a charity based in Brighton that helps people with learning difficulties and autism access employment, and Princess Alice Hospice in Esher, which provides palliative and end-of-life care.

Oliver Searle, executive director of Gorringe’s, said: "We are so pleased with the result of our first charity auction.

"Firle Place provided a stunning backdrop for the occasion and the room was really buzzing.

"We had some fantastic artworks from both new and established artists, as well as some completely one-off experiences.

"Gorringe’s is keen to support the local community, whether artists or charities, and this high-profile event provided an excellent opportunity to do both."

Artwork highlights included Peonies in a glass vase by Viscount Gage, Interior with Sandra Blow, Eileen Agar and woman (Anon) by Lottie Cole, Whispers from the night wood by Walter Bailey and Sussex sunset near Petworth by Andrew Gifford.

Team Domenica was founded by Baroness Rosa Monckton.

The charity helps people with learning difficulties and autism access meaningful employment and thrive in their everyday lives.

The event was supported by Simon Oldfield and Associates and sponsored by Artelium, who provided the wines for the evening.
