Kjell Scherpen could get a second chance to make his Premier League breakthrough.
The former Albion goalkeeper is understood in his native Holland to be closing on a move to promoted Ipswich Town.
Scherpen is currently with Tony Bloom’s Belgian club Royale Union St Gilloise, who he helped win the domestic cup last season.
But he is believed to have attracted a lot of interest and Voetbal International report “intensive talks regarding the final details surrounding a multi-million pound fee” with Ipswich.
Scherpen, 26, had four seasons on the books of the Seagulls after signing from Ajax.
He played in an FA Cup tie at West Bromwich but never made a Prem debut.

The 6ft 7ins shot-stopper had a particularly impressive loan stint at Sturm Graz in Austria as well as temporary stints at Oostende and Vitesse.
He is under contract at RUSG until 2028 and it is expected the club will make a handy profit on him if the deal goes through.
Ipswich’s targets this summer have included Nick Pope at Newcastle, which in turn led to reported Toon links with Carl Rushworth.
But there have been no developments with Pope.
If the Scherpen move goes through, Seagulls fans will be intrigued to see how he fares in the Premier League given he never got that chance for their club as Robert Sanchez, Jason Steele and Bart Verbruggen had stints as first choice.
Former Albion goalkeeper Christian Walton is also on Ipswich’s books and is under contract until 2028.
