Three new buses are set to improve services along a busy coastal route.

The upgrades will benefit passengers in Peacehaven and Telscombe, and along the A259 between Seaford and Falmer following a £900,000 investment from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL).

The funding, generated from new developments, will support extended and more frequent services in Peacehaven, Telscombe and nearby areas.

Councillor Laurence O’Connor, cabinet member for planning and infrastructure, said: "This is exactly what CIL is designed to deliver - real, tangible infrastructure improvements that support our growing communities.

"These new buses will make a huge difference to residents, opening up better access to jobs, schools and colleges and essential services."

Brighton and Hove Buses will use the funding to extend Route 23 to North Peacehaven and increase night bus frequencies on the N12 and N14.

The investment will also add more 12X express services and simplify existing routes.

Alec Horner, secretary of the Peacehaven Residents Association and Telscombe Residents Association, welcomed the improvements.

He said: "Both Telscombe and Peacehaven Residents’ Associations are very grateful for the Community Infrastructure Levy funding and the improvements it brings for bus services in Peacehaven and Telscombe Cliffs, which will enhance the connectivity and mobility for most residents in our communities."
