Sussex Police treating fire in Bognor Regis as arson

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a suspicious fire.

Emergency services were called at about 11.30pm on Thursday, July 23, to a premises in Aldwick Road, Bognor.

Police said a fire was initially put out by a member of the public and the fire service.

It is believed to have been started deliberately and police are treating the incident as arson.

A person was seen wearing all dark clothing running away from the scene, police said.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “Officers are investigating and are appealing for anyone with further information to come forward, including anyone in the area with CCTV, mobile phone, doorbell or dashcam footage or anyone who saw something suspicious.

“Information can be reported to Sussex Police online, quoting serial 1868 of 23/07.”
