A fast-food restaurant is set to fill a vacant unit at a popular leisure destination.

Plans have been submitted for new KFC signage at Brighton Marina, confirming the fast-food chain is planning to move into the former Pizza Hut unit.

Brighton and Hove City Council has received an application for advertisement consent at Unit 49, Brighton Marina Village, seeking approval for a package of illuminated and non-illuminated signs bearing KFC branding.

The application includes multiple KFC logos and signage across all sides of the building, including internally illuminated fascia signs, a halo-illuminated sign, a projecting sign, lightbox signage and promotional banners.

The plans mark the latest step in the transformation of the site formerly occupied by Pizza Hut.

The Brighton Marina Pizza Hut closed in late 2025, bringing an end to the restaurant's long presence on the waterfront.

At the time, the closure left one of the marina's most prominent restaurant units vacant.

Documents submitted through the planning process, alongside KFC's own recruitment activity and online restaurant listing, show that the fried chicken chain is preparing to open a new branch at Brighton Marina.

The chain currently has restaurants in London Road and in Western Road, Brighton.

KFC has already created a Brighton Marina restaurant page on its website, while the company is advertising a number of jobs at the site, including cook, team leader and management positions.

The signage application itself suggests a significant rebranding of the building, with proposed signs spread across the east, west, north and south elevations of the unit.

If approved, the new branding would make KFC one of the latest additions to Brighton Marina's food and leisure offering, joining nearby operators including McDonald's, Nando's, Pizza Express and Prezzo.

The application can be viewed on Brighton and Hove City Council's planning portal under reference BH2026/01781.
