A man has been jailed after a spree of burglaries.
Steven Stacey, 33, of Southfield, Polegate, was sentenced to three years in prison at Lewes Crown Court on August 10 after a series of burglaries at homes across Eastbourne.
Police said, between March 17 and April 29, Stacey burgled six properties and attempted to break into a seventh.
He was first arrested on April 14 in connection with two burglaries and one attempted burglary that took place between March 17 and April 10.
During the burglaries, police said Stacey would often knock at the door of the property to check no one was home before smashing through a back door or window and taking items from the address.
During police interviews, Stacey claimed he had seen the back door of the property already smashed and had entered the property only to look around as an "urban explorer".
He was charged with two counts of burglary, and attempted burglary the next day, and after appearing at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on April 16, he was granted bail.
However, beginning on April 22, Stacey went on to target four more properties within the week.
He was arrested again on April 30 and charged the same day with four counts of burglary and possession of a class B drug.
He appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on May 1 and was remanded into custody.
Stacey pleaded guilty to all charges at Lewes Crown Court and was sentenced on August 10 to three years in prison.
Detective Sergeant Jake O’Reilly said: "We understand that the impact of burglaries can be long lasting for victims, not just financially but emotionally too.
"Sussex Police will continue to investigate any report of burglary, pursuing all reasonable lines of enquiry to hold offenders accountable for their crimes, bring justice to victims and work to ensure members of our community feel safe."
