Fabian Hurzeler has confirmed a knee injury for Mats Wieffer – and explained why the right-back held his head.
Wieffer will be out until after the next international break after going off in the 4-3 defeat at Chelsea.
His head coach revealed the problem arose from being hit in the face by the ball.
He lost his balance and hurt his knee.
Hurzeler said: “I can explain this quite easily because I also like to watch boxing.
“Sometimes in boxing, when someone gets like a hit, then you see how weak his legs go and then the legs get in very strange positions and then it might happen that your knee gets injured or your ankle gets twisted.
“It was a similar situation with Mats where he got a hit with the ball in his face and then he lost a little bit the control of his body.
“Then his legs got in a strange position then this injury happens.
“Luckily, it isn't a bad one. So we hope that he will be back on the pitch quite quickly.
“That was how it happened and that’s very unlucky.
“Not a normal injury but an injury we have to deal with and find solutions now.
“He held his head, he stood up, he felt his knee.
“So that how the players explained it to me and it was a strange and unlucky one.

Wieffer’s absence will mean a first start at right-back for Costinha but takes away a midfield option.
Nee arrival Chema Andres is expected to have some part and a return for Yasin Ayari has not been ruled out.
