On Saturday, I travelled into Brighton on the No 7 bus. The bus had just arrived at Brighton Station when from nowhere a small green car came into the bus lane, just opposite the Peacehaven/Newhaven bus stop.
The car had travelled into the bus-only lane, in the opposite direction. The bus and car were facing each other. Neither could move.
An elderly man got out of the car, put a disabled blue badge in the car window, locked the car and slowly walked into the station.
Five minutes later, the man returned with a friend, got into the car and tried to get past the bus. He could not, so he turned the car around, went into another lane and disappeared driving the wrong direction up a one-way street.
And people say let old people drive. I think not.
